About Simon H
Guitar Teacher (Modern styles Rock & Pop etc)
One to one guitar lessons situated in the Ealing/Acton area of West London.
As an experienced guitar teacher who has worked for many years within the music industry, my lessons focus on 'modern' guitar playing 'styles' and 'techniques' relevant to this area.
Throughout my time as a musician I have acquired I wide range of skills associated with song writing, performing and recording, alongside those of teaching guitar. The skills and the knowledge I have gained working within the music business (running my own record labels) are part and parcel of my teaching style. I use the word ‘modern’ (in my title) in the sense that my approach focuses on rock, folk and pop etc, rather than conventional classical styles and aims to develop students not only as guitar players but writers and recording musicians also.
I have just completed a degree (as a mature student) in Music Technology at Kingston University which has furthered widened my skills in these areas.
My experience as a guitarist includes performing ‘live’ with various bands, releasing music (4 albums and countless singles) and recording several BBC Radio 1 Sessions, and I continue to record and release music digitally on my own record label.
My guitar teaching is particularly geared towards people of all ages who are new to the instrument and wish to learn as quickly and effectively as possible. Many modern styles are covered with an emphasis on teaching students the music ‘they’ enjoy. Although I do not teach traditional ‘classical’ technique obviously some ‘theory’ is covered with a focus on developing knowledge relevant to the modern player. My teaching experience includes lessons for students of all ages and within many styles including a lesson for the singer Lily Allen.
Learning an instrument can be a bit daunting and stressful for the beginner so I try to maintain and easy-going and relaxed atmosphere letting students develop at their own pace.
