About Georgia W
Imperial College Graduate Looking to help Primary Students Excel!
Being the second eldest of eight children, it is very natural for me to be around young children and I believe I am well aware of the requirements to engage with children of all ages. Whilst at home during my university studies, I often volunteered in the local primary school and helped as a young leader at the local cub pack. In addition, I have done several voluntary placements; a week at George Elliot Hospital, Nuneaton working on a general medical ward, I spent a week at Vitalise, a holiday organisation for disabled adults and also volunteered within a weekly play scheme for disabled children. Volunteering at Helen and Douglas House Hospice as part of the clinical care team, I had the opportunity to work with both children and young adults with a range of life threatening and life limiting conditions. As part of the clinical care team, I help with day-to-day care and administration. My time at the hospice increased my confidence in my ability to adapt to varying situations; it was also necessary for me to develop my communication and interpersonal skills and I believe I have gained a greater appreciation of working within a team in a clinical setting.
Through these placements, I feel I’ve improved my communication skills and sensitivity to individual needs. I believe my voluntary work, together with my educational background in Biomedical Science & Molecular Medicine, provide me with the skills & experiences necessary to help primary school children exceed
