About Khasheena B
Qualified and Experienced English Teacher
I have a love for reading and I am always trying to find ways to implement the love of reading with my students. My approach is relational and creative. Having worked in a range of settings such as mainstream and alternative provision, I am used to working with a wide range of students including those with additional needs and those who are immensely gifted. I believe that all learning is based on the individual learning preference. I always channel my lessons centered on the student.
I’ve taught English language and English Literature up to GCSE and also teach GCSE Media Studies and Drama. I have a BA (hons) in Performing Arts, Master’s Degree in Special Educational Needs and PGCE/QTS. My DBS is up to date (police checks), and I have many years of teaching in the classroom, one-on-one teaching and tutoring experience. I also work with any age needing tuition in English as a foreign language.
My teaching philosophy is based on positive relationships, the fostering of independence and constant challenge. It is neither my job nor my inclination to spoon-feed information to students (and it wouldn't help them much if I did) instead, my sessions are focused on helping students build their skills and confidence.
I’m good at finding new ways to explain things and will always listen first to the student’s opinion so that I understand what they need help with. Building confidence in my subject area is imperative, this will give students the opportunity to flourish in the subject.
I have the personality, confidence, organisational skills, interpersonal skills, empathy and ability to be a resourceful and dedicated teacher.
