About Mark G
Very experienced Music Tutor
Mark Glover is a euphonium performing artist for the British instrument manufacturer, Sterling. He has now returned to live in the UK with his wife and daughter after spending 4 years in Dubai where he was the head of a music department in a prestigious international school. Prior to this, Mark held the position of Principal Study Lecturer of Euphonium at The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore and held brass teaching positions in 2 international schools, The Singapore Armed Forces Band and he was greatly in demand as a teacher and musician.
As a soloist and brass educator he has worked around the world, giving world premier performances, recitals and master classes. He has performed in the UAE, India, Brazil, USA, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Australia. He performed to many audiences in South East Asia who had never heard the euphonium before and was instrumental in setting up The Lion City Brass Band in Singapore. He was a finalist in the 2012 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Austria and a guest artist during the 2016 conference in Knoxville, Tennassee. He has also been a guest artist in brass festivals in Singapore and Thailand. He has performed with The St Mary's Brass Band in Sydney, Austrailia and on both tenor tuba and bass trumpet with The Orchestra of the Music Makers in Singapore. He was a guest judge for the 2016 Yong Siow Toh Conservatory of Music concerto competition and promoted the euphonium through a series of community events that encouraged local musicians to perform and learn.
In the UK, Mark had vast success working with special needs children as a classroom music teacher and head of music. He holds a PGCE in secondary music education from the University of Central England and subsequently became a mentor to trainee teachers. He was a member of The Virtuosi GUS brass band and was involved in some fantastic contest and concert performances with the band. Before this, Mark had particular success as the principal euphonium of The Staffordshire Band during the bands most prolific period and Mark was awarded best soloist prizes in many contests. He was also a past runner up in The British Open Solo Competition and a finalist on 2 other occasions. Mark also spent 5 years performing and recording as a guitarist with a heavy rock outfit and he is also an accomplished drummer.
Mark completed his Bmus (Hons) degree at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he studied with Chris Mowat, Richard Adams, Andrew Fawbert and Robert Childs. During his degree Mark completed an ATCL recital diploma and was fortunate to play with The Tongwynlais Band, Tredegar Town Band and The Cory Band.
