About Mollie H

PhD psychology student tutoring gCSE, A-level & Undergrad

Thanks for visiting my page! I’m Mollie and I’m passionate about supporting others to gain confidence and enjoy learning.

About me:
I specialise in tutoring Psychology up to degree level and I am currently studying my professional Doctorate to become a Child & Educational Psychologist. I also tutor primary school children and have an insight into the most effective ways to teach and learn, as well as knowledge of current educational research. My level of training allows me to specialise in supporting children and young people with SEND and additional needs e.g autism, dyslexia, EAL.

I studied my BSc Psychology at the University of Southampton and achieved a First Class Honours. I have also completed a post-graduate qualification in Children & Young People’s Psychological Wellbeing where I further developed my application of psychology. I am therefore able to offer Psychology support to a high level, as well as assist with entry into university courses.

I have worked in numerous primary and secondary schools in Teaching Assistant and Learning Support roles, allowing me to establish positive learning relationships with a variety of young people. I also tutored whilst at university where I developed my approach of assisting students in a relaxed and accessible environment.

My Tutoring Style:
I aim to ensure my tutoring sessions are engaging and professional, whilst offering a fun and tailored approach. My friendly and understanding attitude allows students to feel comfortable asking questions and letting me when they don’t understand.

Led by you:
It is important that our sessions are student-led and focus on the areas most important to you. My patient and understanding approach allows students to lead the conversation and explain what they would find most useful from our sessions. By using this approach, I can ensure that sessions are tailored to the individual, taking into account your preferences and learning style. I use various questions to establish what students already know and what they would like to know. This allows our sessions to be focused and effective, providing you with new strategies to support your learning.

Goal-setting:
All my tutoring sessions begin with some time to think about goals. This may be a goal for the session, a long-term goal or a specific goal related to coursework or an upcoming exam. There is lots of research that shows the effectiveness of goal-setting in helping individuals recognise what is expected of them and the steps required to achieve their goal. Whilst goal-setting may feel daunting at first, I will support you to break down your goals into manageable steps, ensuring you have a clear plan towards success. We will regularly review and rate your progress with your goals to keep you motivated and celebrate your achievements!

My motto:
I believe that all students learn differently and it is important to understand who we are as learners. Using educational and psychological knowledge, my sessions can help students to understand themselves and their learning, whilst developing their confidence. Having had a tutor myself during school, I have experienced first-hand how tailored sessions with a receptive, adaptable and understanding tutor can ignite a passion for learning and success.

My schedule is flexible and I can offer both online sessions or travel within a 5-7 mile radius. I can cover areas in South West London but please get in touch as I may be able to travel further on certain days.

Please contact me with any questions or queries!
