About Guy H
Retired science and maths Teacher
I am an experienced teacher and home tutor, able to offer all three sciences to A level and maths to GCSE/Additional.
I am happy to provide references from amongst the many parents of past students who have agreed to this.
I have taught biology and the other sciences in independent secondary schools for many years, and have tutored these subjects and maths, also for many years.
Generally speaking, my approach to tutoring is to find out from the student, either directly or through trying out questions, which topics they are finding tricky, or hard to remember, and to go through the important elements with the student. I tend to ask questions as we go, and write down, for the student`s future reference, aids to memory and vital points which are essential for understanding the topic.
I routinely bring to a tuition my set of revision guides which contains up-to-date syllabus information from all of the well-known exam boards.
I have gained recent experience with online tuition. I like to use Skype, which will display material on the student’s computer screen. This can be textbook diagrams etc, or my own explanatory notes. A copy of the notes can be emailed to the student after the lesson. Students have felt comfortable with my approach and say that they have learnt a lot from each lesson.
