About Josephine M
Friendly and patient tutor specialising in language classes
I'm an undergraduate student at University College London (UCL) studying a degree in European Social and Political Studies. This is a broad degree in which I study modules from various humanity and social science subjects, primarily Politics and Sociology, as well as a foreign language, which in my case is German. As part of my degree I have also undertaken a year abroad studying in Berlin, Germany.
At the moment I am predominantly teaching English as a foreign language, mostly in the form of conversation classes. I have experience in holding conversation classes for migrants and refugees of various nationalities in London and Berlin. I am also teaching English Language and Literature, German up to A Level standard (I study German as part of my degree and have lived in Germany for one year) and essay-based subjects such as Geography.
I have had plenty of experience working with children of varying ages, both in an educational environment as well as outside of school time. Amongst other things, I recently volunteered running art classes with groups of child refugees in Berlin, and also gave one-to-one English lessons to a teenage refugee. I also work as a Transition Mentor at university, which means I assist first year students on my course with settling into university as well as with study skills such as essay writing and note taking.
I have always been very proud of my academic abilities and believe that education is fundamental to creating opportunities in later life as well as being able to understand and enrich the world we live in. I'm a hardworking, organised and dedicated person, which I hope is shown in my exam results.
Right now I'm taking students for both long-term and short-term tuition. If you don't see a lesson time that you would like, please get in touch as I am mostly quite flexible.
