How should I prepare a lesson?
It is important to be well prepared before you meet a new client. You are advised to:
- Gather information about the student you will be working with by discussing their needs with them or parent/carer.
- Prepare/ gather any initial material you might need for the first lesson to get things to a good start.
- On the day of the lesson arrive 10 minutes before the lesson starts, to settle yourself. Ensure that you are able to present yourself professionally.
- If you haven’t provided Tutorfinder with your documentation, the client might want to see them on the day. Please be prepared to present your identification documents, related degrees/ certificates and DBS certificate to the client during the first lesson.
- Have a positive outlook towards the lesson and the topic you are delivering. This will motivate the student to take interest in the subject area.
Don’t forget to reiterate with the student what the lesson was about and what you hope to teach them in the next lesson. It is a good idea to provide the lesson to follow up using the Tutorfinder message system.
